Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara has announced a festive bonus of N100,000 for civil servants, public servants, and pensioners in the state to celebrate Christmas and the New Year.
In a statement released on Tuesday evening, the State’s Head of Service, Dr. George Nweke, emphasized that this initiative aims to ensure that beneficiaries enjoy a joyful Yuletide season.
“The Rivers State Governor, His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, has approved the sum of N100,000 for civil servants, public servants, and pensioners in Rivers State, in the spirit of the holiday season,” the statement read. “This bonus is intended to help them celebrate Christmas in a fulfilling manner.”
The bonus will be distributed to workers across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, as well as to pensioners from both civil and public service sectors.
Governor Fubara approved the bonus on Monday, December 23, 2024, and has directed its immediate implementation to ensure that civil servants can enjoy a wonderful holiday celebration.
This marks the second consecutive year that civil servants in Rivers State will receive a Christmas bonus of this magnitude, which exceeds the nation’s minimum wage. Notably, this is also the first time pensioners have been included in the initiative.
The N100,000 Christmas bonus for civil and public servants, along with pensioners, reflects Governor Fubara’s commitment to his ‘Rivers First’ mantra, aimed at enhancing the well-being and happiness of Rivers people across various sectors of the economy.
