Senator Sunday Karimi has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of three policemen and two vigilantes in Egbe, saying he has been in constant contact with security agencies, traditional leaders, the local council chairman and protesting youths since the incident.
Speaking while abroad, Karimi said he personally spoke twice with youth leaders to reassure them that “serious efforts are ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore lasting peace.” He commended the demonstrators for their restraint, noting that they suspended the protest and dismantled roadblocks today.
“Your voices have been heard,” the senator said, adding that he remains committed to ensuring security, peace and justice for the people of Yagba West both on the floor of the Senate and through oversight functions.
Karimi closed with condolences to the families of the slain security personnel: “May God comfort the families of the fallen heroes, and may Egbe and indeed Yagba West know peace again.”
Local authorities and security agencies have been urged to step up investigative and protection measures as the community seeks to recover from the attacks.
