The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused “political contractors” of frustrating his efforts to deliver infrastructural development in Abuja.

Speaking on Thursday at the flag-off of the Light Up Abuja project for the installation of integrated solar lighting across city districts and expressways, Wike said the activities of these contractors had given him “serious headache.”

According to him, huge sums were disbursed to contractors without any visible results, prompting his decision to halt the payments.

“These contractors are politicians. You don’t even know who they are or where their equipment is, yet government keeps paying without results. That had to stop. Leadership is about taking decisions, even if they don’t please everyone, so long as they bring improvement,” Wike declared.

He stressed that his administration would not allow political interference or sabotage to derail projects designed to improve the lives of Abuja residents.
