Self-acclaimed activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has stirred fresh controversy by claiming that Naira Marley was once more influential than top Nigerian music stars Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy. He made the statement during a recent TikTok broadcast, where he condemned the impact of cancel culture on public figures.
According to him, before the backlash following the death of Mohbad — Naira Marley’s former signee — the Marlian boss had the largest music fanbase in Nigeria and a strong following abroad. “Naira Marley was bigger than Wizkid, Burna Boy and Davido… The music industry is so dark. The jealousy in the industry is too much,” VDM asserted.
He further urged authorities to conclude investigations into Mohbad’s death so that the country can finally move on. This comes shortly after a court dismissed a case filed by Mohbad’s father against Naira Marley and Sam Larry, citing lack of sufficient evidence.
