A tragic accident on Friday night claimed the lives of two people as students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) were involved in a fatal road crash while on their way to a Davido concert in Enugu.
The bus carrying the students reportedly departed late from Nsukka with faulty headlights. Eyewitnesses revealed the vehicle collided with a stationary trailer along the route, resulting in the immediate death of both the driver and a student named Chukwuebuka Nwankwo.
Several students sustained serious injuries. Two 300-level students were found unconscious, while a final-year student is currently fighting for life due to a severe brain injury. Many others received varying degrees of trauma and were rushed to Shanahan Hospital, Nsukka, for emergency treatment. One victim is currently undergoing surgery for a fractured skull.
Inya Egwu, the Acting Public Relations Officer at UNN, confirmed the incident and assured that the university will release a formal statement shortly.
