Team Muqaddas, in collaboration with the Tukur Tukur Youth for Political Progression, commemorated the second anniversary of Rt. Hon. Dr. Abbas Tajudeen’s tenure as Speaker of the House of Representatives, praising his leadership as a unifying force within Nigeria’s legislative framework.
Delivering the keynote address, Comrade Abdul Azeez Suleiman reflected on the challenges confronting the National Assembly when Speaker Abbas assumed office, characterising the political environment as one marked by uncertainty and division. He emphasised that Nigeria required a leader capable of fostering dialogue, bridging divides, and uniting diverse voices under a shared vision.
Comrade Suleiman lauded Speaker Abbas, also known as Iyan Zazzau, for not only meeting these challenges but also redefining leadership through integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to public service. He stated, “Leadership is not merely about holding office or wielding power; it is about inspiring, mobilising, and effecting meaningful change.”
Under Speaker Abbas’s stewardship, Comrade Suleiman noted, the legislative process has undergone a significant transformation, marked by enhanced inclusivity and responsiveness. He highlighted the Speaker’s dedication to ensuring all voices are heard and concerns addressed, with policies reflecting the aspirations of Nigeria’s citizens.
Acknowledging the contributions of Aliyu Garba Waziri, the Speaker’s liaison officer, Comrade Suleiman commended his pivotal role in supporting Speaker Abbas’s inclusive approach. He further underscored the Speaker’s focus on advancing a people-centric agenda, translating public aspirations into actionable legislative measures.
Looking ahead, Comrade Suleiman proposed a strategic plan for the Zaria Federal Constituency to re-elect Speaker Abbas to the House of Representatives in 2027, aligning with his potential retention as Speaker of the 11th National Assembly.
He framed this initiative as part of a broader vision for the anticipated political transition in 2031, stressing the importance of the North presenting a credible and viable presidential candidate.
He concluded, “Consolidating political capital now is critical to securing a unified and robust Northern front in the upcoming electoral cycle, ensuring long-term stability and representation.
