A congregation of prominent Nigerian politicians attended the church wedding of Dr. Chikamkpa Amaechi, son of former Minister of Transportation Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, on Saturday in Abuja. Notable guests included former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti, former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, ADC National Chairman Senator David Mark, as well as Mrs. Patience Jonathan and Mrs. Dolapo Osibanjo.
Reverend Father Steve Dedua officiated the ceremony, urging the couple to be patient and place God at the centre of their marriage. He reminded guests, “From the beginning, God made them male and female… what God has joined together, let no Man or Woman put asunder.”
Father Dedua highlighted a worrying trend, referencing a 2023 study that ranked Nigeria 11th among countries with the highest rates of divorce. He encouraged the newlyweds to break this statistic by relying steadfastly on God’s guidance.
At the reception, Governor Alex Otti advised the couple on conflict resolution and the importance of open communication during crises. The couple had earlier completed traditional rites in Abuja the previous weekend.
