Tinubu to Unveil New INEC Boss Nominees at Council of State Meeting

President Bola Tinubu is set to chair a crucial Council of State meeting on Thursday, where he is expected to present a list of potential candidates to succeed Prof. Mahmood Yakubu as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The meeting will also address other key national matters, including security and governance issues.

On the same day, the Police Council will convene to deliberate on the establishment of state police and other pressing concerns affecting national security and law enforcement.

The Council of State comprises the President, who serves as Chairman; the Vice-President, who acts as Deputy Chairman; all former Presidents and Heads of State; all former Chief Justices of Nigeria; the President of the Senate; the Speaker of the House of Representatives; all state Governors; and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.
