President Bola Tinubu has confirmed his attendance as Special Guest of Honour at the 2025 All Nigeria Editors Conference scheduled for 12-13 November in Abuja.
The Nigerian Guild of Editors announced the rescheduled dates on Friday, stating that the President had committed to declaring the conference open on 12 November.
In a joint statement, NGE President Eze Anaba and General Secretary Onuoha Ukeh explained that the change of date was “due to circumstances beyond its control.”
The Guild apologised to members, invited guests and the general public for any inconvenience caused by the rescheduling.
NGE, the professional body representing managing directors, directors of news and editors across print, online, news agency and broadcast organisations, expects no fewer than 500 members to attend the Abuja conference.
“We promise that despite the change of date, ANEC 2025 would be a credible platform to discuss and proffer solutions to issues pertaining to national development and cohesion,” the statement read.
The conference will focus on the theme “Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors,” with a sub-theme examining “Electoral Integrity and Trust Deficit: What Nigerians Expect in 2027.”
Prof. Awa Kalu, SAN, Managing Partner at Awa Kalu & Partners, will deliver a paper on “Election Disputes and Judicial Integrity: Navigating the Thin Line Between Law and Politics.”
Prof. Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim, Head of Department for Political Science and International Relations at the University of Abuja, will speak on “State of the Nation: Imperative of Economic and Political Reforms in a Challenged Nation.”
Other speakers include Prof. Abiodun Adeniyi, Dean of School of Postgraduate Studies at Baze University, who will address “The Evolving Face of Journalism: Battling Misinformation, AI Disruption, and Credibility Gap.”
Gen. Lucky Irabor (retd.), former Chief of Defence Staff, will present on “Media, Terrorism, and National Security: Addressing the Complexities.”
The conference’s second day will feature an executive session where editors will engage with government officials, political figures and business leaders.
The annual conference serves as a platform for editors to examine national issues with social, economic and political implications for Nigeria.
