Presidential hopeful under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has declared that his 2027 ambition is not a personal pursuit but a national movement aimed at rescuing Nigeria from economic stagnation and leadership failure.
Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Kamadin Sanni, during the inauguration of his campaign coordinators in Benue State, Olawepo-Hashim described the initiative as a mission to “restore the nation’s pride and prosperity.”
“This is not just my project; it is a movement for all Nigerians, our children, and future generations,” he said. “It is a project to turn around our country and make it once again a place people aspire to come to — not what we have today, where our brightest minds are leaving for greener pastures.”
The former PDP National Publicity Secretary stressed that the campaign is rooted in the desire to reposition Nigeria as a globally respected nation. “We want to rebuild a country we can all be proud of — a country where foreigners would come and seek greener pastures, as they once did,” he added43dcd9a7-70db-4a1f-b0ae-981daa162054.
The event, held in Makurdi, saw the formal unveiling of state and local government coordinators tasked with driving grassroots mobilisation across Benue’s 23 local government areas. Olawepo-Hashim urged them to take the message to every ward and polling unit, noting that “grassroots participation will determine the success of the coming elections.”
Benue State Campaign Coordinator and former PDP Acting Chairman, Mr Isaac Mfo, described the movement as divine. “Benue has over one million votes, and it is our duty to mobilise those votes for Dr Olawepo-Hashim,” he said. “Let us carry out this assignment with faith and determination to deliver this project to the glory of God.”
Also present was Mr Sunday Sado, Special Adviser on Political Affairs to the aspirant, who said the campaign was born out of a need to rescue Nigerians from insecurity, economic hardship, and failed leadership. “God has brought Dr Olawepo-Hashim for a purpose to liberate our country from the pains we are currently facing,” he stated.
Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated coordinators, Mr Emmanuel Ortserga expressed confidence in the team’s readiness. “We are prepared for the task ahead, and we believe our efforts will end in victory and celebration,” he said.
Olawepo-Hashim’s campaign continues to gather momentum across the country, with similar endorsements recently recorded in Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory43dcd9a7-70db-4a1f-b0ae-981daa16205443dcd9a7-70db-4a1f-b0ae-981daa16205443dcd9a7-70db-4a1f-b0ae-981daa162054.
