A former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Senator Chris Ngige, has issued a stern warning to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the November 8, 2025 Anambra election, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, against using his name and image in campaign materials without consent.
Ngige expressed strong disapproval after his photograph appeared alongside those of Ukachukwu and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, on campaign posters circulating online. He described the unauthorized use as misleading to the public.
The former Anambra State governor made his position clear in a statement released on Tuesday by his Special Assistant on Media Affairs, Hyggy Obialo.
Obialo emphasized that Senator Ngige is currently on a sabbatical from active partisan politics and should not be disturbed as he takes a well-deserved rest following 25 years of dedicated political and public service.
The statement read in part:
“Our attention has been drawn to an online poster featuring the photograph of our principal, His Excellency Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige, ‘Onwa-na-etiliora’, alongside the Anambra State APC governorship candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, and his deputy, Senator Uche Ekwunife. We wish to inform the public that neither consent nor approval was sought or given by our principal before this publication was disseminated.
“Senator Ngige, a former Governor of Anambra State (2003-2006), a former Senator representing Anambra Central (2011-2015), and a two-term Minister of Labour and Employment (2015-2023), is currently on sabbatical from active partisan politics.
“We therefore urge the perpetrators to respect his wishes and desist from using his name or image in partisan campaigns.”
