Prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Joe Igbokwe, has once again vociferously dismissed the ongoing agitations for the actualization of an independent Biafran state for Ndigbo, issuing a stark warning that these “senseless agitations” threaten to devastate the South-East geopolitical zone.
In a fervent post shared on his official Facebook page, Igbokwe expressed his long-standing concerns, lamenting that his previous warnings have gone unheeded. “I wrote the Book, IGBO: 25 Years After Biafra in 1995 they did not listen. I wrote IGBO: 50 Years After Biafra in 2020 they did not listen,” he recounted. He further emphasized his persistent efforts, adding, “I have written hundreds of articles that these senseless agitations will destroy SE they did not listen. I am done.” His statement reflects a palpable frustration with the continued push for secession and its perceived negative consequences for the region.
Igbokwe’s strong words come amidst reports of a compulsory sit-at-home order being enforced by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) across the South-East on Friday, May 30, 2025, to commemorate Biafra Day. Media reports indicate that several cities within the region, including Umuahia, the capital city of Abia State, experienced eerily empty streets and deserted markets as residents complied with the directive.
