Former Senator representing Adamawa North, Elisha Abbo, has surrendered himself to the Nigeria Police Force’s Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja following allegations of raping a 13-year-old secondary school student.
According to reports by Blueprint, the case is progressing despite attempts by prominent figures from Adamawa State to dissuade the victim’s parents from pursuing legal action.
Our correspondent learned that the minor’s parents informed journalists that a former lawmaker and governorship candidate had visited their home, urging them to keep the alleged scandal confidential.
The incident reportedly took place on June 29, 2025, at Abbo’s residence in Katampe, Abuja. The victim’s parents also allege that the former senator has repeatedly sent money to the victim’s father in an attempt to suppress the matter.
Attempts to obtain an official update on the investigation from the Nigeria Police were unsuccessful at the time of publication. The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, had not responded to messages from our correspondent.
Senator Abbo was previously in the spotlight in 2019 after a viral video showed him assaulting a woman at a sex toy shop in Abuja, leading to his arrest. Additionally, a married woman had accused him of attempting to blackmail her with a sex tape.
The case remains under active investigation. Further updates will follow as more information becomes available.
