The Nigerian Senate has officially confirmed Mr Bernard Doro, a native of Plateau State, as a new minister in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, following a thorough screening session held at the National Assembly, Abuja.
Mr Doro’s confirmation brings the number of ministers in the Federal Executive Council to full capacity once again, following the recent reshuffle and replacement of vacant portfolios. Lawmakers described him as a “seasoned technocrat with a deep understanding of governance and development challenges.”
During his screening, the Plateau-born nominee pledged to prioritise national unity, transparency, and inclusive growth, particularly through policies that empower youths and strengthen local economies. He also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him and to the Senate for its support.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who presided over the plenary, congratulated Doro on his confirmation and urged him to “serve the nation with integrity, humility, and commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Political observers view the appointment as a strategic move by the Presidency to balance regional representation and strengthen the administration’s presence in the North-Central region. Plateau leaders and stakeholders have already welcomed the news, describing Doro’s elevation as “a victory for the state and the Middle Belt.”
Doro, who is expected to be sworn in at the Presidential Villa in Abuja in the coming days, will join other newly appointed ministers as part of President Tinubu’s efforts to inject fresh energy into key sectors of government.
