The Christian community in Nigeria has been thrown into mourning following the sudden passing of Reverend David Ayuba Azzaman, Assistant General Overseer of Kings Worship Chapel and Ministry Inc., Kaduna. The respected cleric died tragically in a motor accident on Saturday, May 24, 2025, while returning from a crusade in Makurdi, Benue State.
Rev. Azzaman, known for his bold evangelism and pastoral compassion, had just wrapped up a successful outreach mission when the fatal crash occurred along the Kachia-Kaduna Expressway. According to an official statement by the General Overseer of the Church, Rev. Dr. Sam Magai Albert, the accident took place near the Idon axis in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
“At approximately 1:00 p.m., a vehicle coming from the opposite direction swerved to avoid a pothole and collided with the side of the car where Rev. Azzaman was seated,” the statement read. The impact reportedly forced the vehicle off the road and into the bush, where it struck a tree.
Rev. Azzaman, who was seated in the front passenger seat, sustained critical injuries. He and two other ministry team members were rushed to Idon Rural Hospital. While the other passengers were later treated and discharged, the attending physician, Dr. Uzomah Charles, confirmed that Rev. Azzaman died at 2:56 p.m. from multiple leg fractures and internal trauma.
Eyewitness accounts from the surviving passengers described the cleric’s final moments as deeply moving and characteristic of his selfless spirit. “Even in pain, his first concern was for others,” Rev. Albert shared emotionally. “Once he was told they were safe, he began to softly sing the Hausa hymn ‘Watarana, watarana…’ — a song of hope and readiness to meet the Lord.”
As medical staff battled to stabilize him, Rev. Azzaman reportedly whispered, “Let me rest… I just want to rest,” before he slipped into what his fellow believers describe as “eternal sleep.”
Rev. Dr. Albert described the deceased as more than a colleague. “I have lost a younger brother, a dependable ally, a fearless preacher, and a relentless soul-winner,” he said. “He was full of fire, faith, compassion, and humility. He was the best of the best.”
The death of Rev. Azzaman has sparked an outpouring of grief across churches in Kaduna and beyond. Messages of condolence have continued to flood in for his wife, children, and the entire church family. Yet amid the sorrow, many believers are taking solace in Scripture, particularly Psalm 116:15: “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.”
Funeral arrangements will be announced on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, according to the church. In the meantime, Kings Worship Chapel has requested continued prayers for the bereaved family and congregation.
Rev. David Ayuba Azzaman is remembered as a man of courage, conviction, and compassion—a servant who finished his race and now rests in the embrace of the Master he loved and served with his whole being.
