The Presidency has hit back at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for criticising President Bola Tinubu’s handling of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s reinstatement.
In a statement on Friday, Presidential aide Sunday Dare described the ADC’s reaction as “belated and baseless,” insisting Tinubu acted within the Constitution to prevent bloodshed.
“The Constitution is clear: under Section 305, the President has the power — and duty — to act when law and order are under grave threat,” Dare said.
He argued that Tinubu’s intervention restored stability, safeguarded democratic institutions, and preserved peace, dismissing the ADC’s accusations of autocracy as “empty noise.”
The ADC had earlier condemned Tinubu’s actions, warning they risked setting a dangerous precedent of federal overreach.
