Miango, Plateau State – February 10, 2025 – Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has issued a stark reminder to his appointees, emphasizing that their positions are not guaranteed and urging them to focus on delivering tangible results. Speaking at the 2025 Executive Retreat for government appointees and officials held in Miango, Bassa Local Government Area, Governor Mutfwang stressed the urgency of addressing the challenges facing the state.
Addressing commissioners, permanent secretaries, special advisers, and other attendees, the Governor stated emphatically, “Everyone of us, apart from myself and the deputy governor, no one is guaranteed a duty post.” He urged them to make the most of their time in office, even if posted to a ministry for a short period, and to strive to make a difference.
Governor Mutfwang called for an end to individualistic approaches and emphasized the need for teamwork. “There is no time for selfishness… The time when we were operating individually and creating power to ourselves is over. It is now time to join hands together and take advantage of this time,” he stated.
He also stressed the importance of loyalty, but clarified that ultimate loyalty should be to a higher power. “Yes it is good to be loyal to me, but what I want from this moment is that your loyalty shift to the God of heaven. So, you must always try on a daily basis to keep a clear conscience before God and before men,” he said.
The Governor expressed his desire for a work environment where supervision is less necessary, calling on appointees to be self-motivated and driven by the needs of the people. “I will like to see us work unsupervised… our people are dying, our people are suffering, our people are living in poverty and they have given us the trust to do something about their situation. We can’t wait no more, the time to make a difference is now,” he asserted. He concluded by urging them to give their best in their respective roles and strive to find solutions for the people of Plateau State, stating, “May we not fail.”
