Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has charged graduating cadets of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) to embrace professionalism, resilience, and loyalty as they prepare to take up the task of safeguarding the nation.
Speaking at a regimental dinner held in honour of cadets from the 72 Regular Course, Short Service Course 48 (Army), Direct Short Service Course 33, and Branch Commission 2 (Air Force), Oluyede reminded them that Nigeria’s future “rests squarely on their shoulders.”
He noted that the country’s security landscape was becoming increasingly complex, stressing the need for officers to be technologically adept, innovative, and adaptable to emerging threats.
The army chief also underscored the importance of leadership, trust, accountability, and decisive action in the military profession.
Oluyede commended the NDA commandant, staff, and instructors for their efforts, and congratulated the cadets on their achievements, urging them to hold their heads high as they march into service.
