Strong indications emerged on Thursday that the rift between Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio may have finally been resolved. This follows an invitation from Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to Akpabio and other Senators to attend a series of project commissioning events in Kogi State next week.
The invitation, personally signed by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, was addressed to all Senators and read aloud during plenary on Thursday by the Senate President.
In the letter, Senator Natasha invited her colleagues to join her in Ihima, Kogi State, on Sunday for the commissioning of constituency projects, marking her second anniversary in office as a serving lawmaker.
The letter read in part:
*”In marking my second-year anniversary as a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite my Distinguished colleagues to join me for the commissioning of projects in Kogi State.”*
According to the letter, the meeting point for the event will be Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s residence at Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene, Kogi State.
As announced by the Senate President, Senators travelling by air can land at Obajana Airstrip before proceeding to Ihima by road.
Apparent pleased by the gesture, Senator Akpabio personally congratulated Senator Natasha in advance after reading the letter, saying: *“Congratulations in advance.”*
It will be recalled that the feud between the two earlier this year—stemming from seat reallocation in the Senate chamber—escalated into a major dispute, resulting in Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension by the Senate on March 6, 2025.
Since her return from suspension on September 24, Senator Natasha has been actively participating in plenary sessions and engaging constructively with the Senate President. Notably, she recently contributed to the debate on the Criminal Code (Amendment) Bill, 2025, successfully moving an additional prayer for adoption as a resolution.
Her latest gesture—extending a formal invitation to Akpabio and fellow Senators for the project commissioning—is widely seen as the clearest sign yet that the frosty relationship between both Senators has been fully restored.
