The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Yusuf Atah, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu continues to enjoy overwhelming support from the northern region as the nation moves toward the 2027 general elections.
Mr. Atah made this known through his media aide, Seyi Olorunsola, while reacting to claims suggesting that the North had withdrawn its backing for the President. He described the reports as “false, malicious, and a deliberate attempt to sow disunity among Nigerians.”
“The claim is not only baseless; it is disrespectful to the genuine sentiments and aspirations of millions of northerners who have benefited from the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the minister stated.
Mr. Atah insisted that there is “no vacancy in Aso Rock in 2027,” stressing that the northern region remains united in its commitment to President Tinubu’s administration. He noted that the government has delivered several key development projects in the North, a clear indication that the region has not been sidelined.
According to him, “the talk about the North rejecting Tinubu is a false story made up to cause division among Nigerians.”
The minister also highlighted the strong backing President Tinubu enjoys from Islamic clerics, traditional rulers, and community leaders, who have all pledged their continued support.
“To the northern people, I say: do not be swayed by the false rhetoric of failed and retired politicians whose only agenda is to reclaim access to the public purse,” Mr. Atah warned.
He expressed confidence that President Tinubu will secure a second term, citing his inclusive governance and ongoing development initiatives across all regions as factors that continue to strengthen his popularity nationwide.
