Ademola Lookman has laid out his financial expectations to Turkish champions Galatasaray, demanding twice his current earnings as the Istanbul club makes a fresh attempt to secure his signature, The Observer Times can report.
The 28-year-old Atalanta winger, who presently pockets €4.6m gross annually according to Capology, has informed the Turkish side of his wage requirements following renewed transfer talks.
Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has re-established communication with Lookman’s representatives months after an initial approach for the Nigerian international collapsed.
UK sports outlet Daily Sports revealed that Lookman held discussions with his Super Eagles colleague Victor Osimhen before presenting his demands to the Turkish giants.
The club is now preparing a formal bid to test whether Atalanta will sanction the departure of their Nigerian star, who remains high on Buruk’s wish list.
Osimhen has reportedly become an active advocate for his compatriot’s move to Galatasaray, according to Italian media reports.
The Turkish champions view Lookman as a vital reinforcement to their attack, particularly with Barış Alper Yılmaz potentially leaving in January.
Foot Africa quoted Italian press sources stating that Osimhen telephoned his friend and said: “Come to Galatasaray and be happy here!”
Lookman’s situation at Atalanta deteriorated this season following tensions with club officials over a collapsed transfer to Inter Milan. The forward has endured limited playing time and appeared willing to make the switch to Turkey if both clubs reach an understanding.
The reigning African Player of the Year staged a protest during the summer transfer window and subsequently found himself frozen out by the club. His return came through a brief four-minute substitute appearance in Atalanta’s 3-0 victory at Torino in September, followed by his first starting role in the Champions League fixture against Club Brugge.
The 28-year-old finally broke his scoring drought for the 2025/26 campaign last week, finding the net in Atalanta’s 1-1 stalemate with AC Milan at home on Tuesday.
