Media personality and shepherd of the Celestial Church of Christ, Praiseville Global, Kunle Hamilton, has criticised the outcome of Big Brother Naija Season 10, where Opeyemi Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi, emerged winner.
In a video circulating online, Hamilton expressed disapproval over the celebration that followed Imisi’s victory, especially among Celestial Church members. He described the reality show as a “swimming pool of sin where contestants photocopy other people’s lifestyles,” insisting that the platform should not be a source of pride for the church or its youth.
According to him, although he would have personally congratulated Imisi if he had her phone number, he would “never do so publicly.” He, however, noted that if the BBNaija winner maintained her Christian mindset, “she will continue to prosper.”
Hamilton further criticised clergymen who openly congratulated Imisi, saying their public endorsement of a show like Big Brother Naija sends a wrong message to young people. He warned that such actions could “encourage youths to do anything to make money,” stressing that religious leaders must be careful about what they celebrate.
His remarks drew mixed reactions online. While some users supported his position, others accused him of hypocrisy.
A user identified as @baebee112 wrote, “Sir, you should be proud of her, not condemning her. She behaved well in the house.” Another, @pamilerinniopeayo, commented, “Can the church give her ₦80 million cash? If not, they should empower youths instead of criticising them.”
Others defended the clergy. User @tums_empire_brand said, “He is right. Not everything should be publicly endorsed.”
Imisi’s win had earlier stirred excitement within the Celestial Church community, with several members reportedly praying and campaigning for her during the grand finale.
Meanwhile, shortly after her victory, a video showing Imisi experiencing a wardrobe malfunction on stage trended on social media. Despite the minor incident, fans and supporters continued to celebrate her success, describing her as “a proud representative of the church who kept her dignity throughout the show.”
