Senator Sunday Steve Karimi has again urged the Federal Government and security agencies to take immediate action to tackle the rising insecurity affecting Kogi West and neighbouring areas.
Speaking on the floor of the Senate on Oct. 8, the senator warned that communities across Kogi West, parts of Kwara South and areas of Niger State have become an “axis of evil” because of escalating kidnappings, banditry and other criminal activity. He said the situation has worsened over the past six months, leaving farmers, traders and commuters vulnerable to attacks, causing loss of life, displacement and severe disruption to local economies.
Karimi called for a coordinated response from federal and state governments and security heads — one that prioritizes intelligence sharing, community engagement and rapid-response deployments across affected zones. He stressed that restoring peace is essential not only for public safety but also for sustaining agricultural productivity, inter‑state trade and broader national development.
The senator said he would continue to press for policies and actions that protect his constituents and promote stability and prosperity across the region.
