Iyabo Ojo, the well-known Nollywood actress, has issued a strong rebuke to Tanzanian activist and media personality Mange Kimambi, who recently criticized her daughter Priscilla and her husband, Juma, over their social media activities.
Kimambi accused the couple of distracting Tanzanians from the ongoing political unrest in the country, labeling their posts as “stupid” and irrelevant. She urged them to refrain from public attention while citizens focused on addressing governmental issues.
Ojo did not hold back in her response. In a passionate Instagram post directed at Kimambi, she stated: “@mangekimambi80, I’m appalled by your audacity! Referring to my daughter and her husband in such a manner and calling their content stupid is unacceptable. As a parent, I’ve taught her to be confident and authentic. The Mkambala are very peaceful, but I don’t joke when it comes to my daughter.”
She further addressed rumors surrounding her daughter’s wedding, clarifying that the expenses were part of a cultural tradition within her family, where the wife’s family typically covers the costs. Ojo emphasized her desire for an elaborate wedding in Nigeria, supported by her fellow countrymen.
As an activist herself, Ojo expressed her commitment to her principles without resorting to insults or personal attacks. “True leadership requires presence and courage,” she remarked, adding that it was “laughable” for someone living in America to dictate the lives of her daughter and son-in-law in Tanzania.
“Keep my daughter out of your affairs. She’ll post what she likes, when she likes, and how she likes. She doesn’t need your approval; she is very loved and well-supported,” Ojo concluded.
