Katsina United secured a narrow 1-0 win over Kano Pillars in a thrilling North-West derby at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina, extending their winning streak in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

Midfielder Falolu Azeez struck the decisive goal in the 86th minute, handing Katsina United bragging rights over their rivals. The victory marks back-to-back wins for the “Chanji Boys,” following last week’s 2-1 triumph at Plateau United.

Kano Pillars, who forced a 1-1 draw with Wikki Tourists in their previous home fixture, continue to struggle in this season’s campaign. Both teams had lost their opening matches, with Katsina United going down 1-0 to Warri Wolves and Pillars suffering the same scoreline away at Abia Warriors.

Elsewhere, Kwara United’s new signing JohnMark Shirsha netted twice in a 2-0 win over Kun Khalifat. Defending champions Remo Stars also followed up with a 1-0 victory against Warri Wolves, thanks to Samson Olusupo’s goal. Other notable results included Wikki Tourists’ 1-0 win over Abia Warriors and Enugu Rangers’ 2-0 victory against Plateau United.

Several fixtures ended in draws, including Ikorodu City’s 1-1 draw with Shooting Stars and goalless draws between El-Kanemi Warriors versus Enyimba FC and Rivers United against Nasarawa United.
