A senior member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, Hon. Abdulaziz Maituraka, has cautioned opposition parties against turning the issue of insecurity into a political weapon against the government.
Speaking during a meeting with APC supporters over the weekend, Maituraka said it was unfair and misleading for opposition figures to blame the current administration for security challenges that predated it.
“Some of those now criticising this government on security matters were once in government themselves,” he said. “My advice to such people is to stop politicising insecurity. The state government is working with relevant stakeholders to address the situation.”
The APC stalwart explained that security is primarily a federal responsibility, while state governments play a supportive role in tackling crime and unrest. He maintained that the situation in Katsina has seen noticeable improvement compared to previous years.
Maituraka also urged party members to remain committed to the APC’s development agenda and prepare for the next election cycle by ensuring they have their voter cards.
He encouraged members to “actively promote the policies and achievements of the APC” at both state and national levels, stressing that unity and political discipline are key to sustaining the party’s success.
