The Kano Non-Indigenous Youths Assembly (KNIYA) has officially called on Senator Barau Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate, to declare his candidacy for the 2027 governorship election in Kano State.
KNIYA believes that Senator Barau possesses the necessary qualities to restore the state’s lost glory. In a communique signed by General Secretary Mr. Usman Abdullahi, the group criticized the current administration for its failures, including reckless demolitions, poor management of state resources, lack of infrastructural development, and escalating insecurity.
The assembly expressed concern over the absence of youth-focused policies, economic stagnation, and the disconnect between government officials and the realities faced by the average Kano resident. They also highlighted the alienation of non-indigenous groups, despite their significant contributions to the state.
Reiterating their commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, KNIYA called on all Kano youths to unite under the vision of a greater Kano and a more progressive Nigeria.
The group urged Senator Barau to heed the people’s call and announce his intention to run for governor in 2027. “Kano needs you, and history beckons,” the communique stated, expressing optimism that Senator Barau’s leadership could usher in a new era of service, experience, and vision for a modern, united, and prosperous Kano.
