Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, has announced that the presidential pardon list is currently at the “final administrative stage,” involving a thorough review of the names and recommendations.
Last Thursday, President Bola Tinubu granted presidential pardons and other forms of clemency to 175 individuals, following the approval of the Council of State.
“The process remains at the final administrative stage, which includes a standard review to ensure that all names and recommendations fully comply with established legal and procedural requirements before any instrument of release is issued,” Fagbemi said in a statement.
This final review aims to guarantee that all legal protocols are strictly observed before the pardons are officially implemented.
