Immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (retired), has declared that he is leaving office with a “clear conscience,” confident that he has served Nigeria and the Armed Forces with unwavering dedication, integrity, and courage.
Speaking on Friday as he formally handed over the reins of leadership, General Musa reflected on his tenure with a sense of fulfilment, noting that he gave his utmost to the fight against insecurity and the protection of the nation’s territorial integrity.
The retired military chief expressed deep appreciation to officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces for their loyalty, professionalism, and sacrifice throughout his period of service. He commended their resilience in the face of daunting challenges, urging them to remain steadfast in safeguarding the nation.
“I leave with a clear conscience, knowing I gave my all to the service of our great country. The task was enormous, but together we made significant progress,” he stated.
General Musa also extended gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government for the trust and support accorded to him during his tenure, stressing that collective effort and decisive leadership were key to the achievements recorded.
He called on Nigerians to continue supporting the military and other security agencies in their ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability across the country.
General Musa’s exit marks the end of a distinguished career spanning decades of meritorious service, during which he held several strategic command positions and contributed immensely to national defence and counter-terrorism operations.
With humility and pride, he concluded his address by reaffirming his faith in the Nigerian Armed Forces, describing them as a beacon of hope and unity, and pledging his continued commitment to the peace and progress of the nation.
