An Abuja-based Nigerian lady has recounted a chilling near-miss with gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi, who was recently arrested for the gruesome murder of his girlfriend, Salome Eleojo Adaidu.
In a video, the unnamed lady revealed that she was part of the same Telegram group as Ajayi, where he announced plans to organize a karaoke session.
Intrigued, the lady expressed interest and Ajayi subsequently sent her his address in Orozo, inviting her for rehearsals.
“I just heard about a tragic incident that happened in Abuja yesterday (indicating she made the video on Monday) where a guy murdered his girlfriend,” she said. “Thank God for my life because maybe I would have been a victim. We belong to the same group on Telegram and he posted that he is doing karaoke or something. That he is a gospel artist.”
Sharing screenshots of her WhatsApp conversation with Ajayi, she detailed how he persistently urged her to visit his residence for rehearsals.
“He kept calling me every day. He was calling me, asking ‘where are you?'” she recounted. “Thank God for my life because I told my sister and she kept telling me to go, let us go. He kept calling me.”
According to the WhatsApp chat, Ajayi instructed her to take a Keke to Arab Junction Orozo and then contact him. He even suggested she could stay overnight and continue working the next day.
“Thank God for my life because my mind was not just going, and thank God for work. I was really busy with work and I could not go, if not, I would have been a victim of this,” she emphasized.
OBSERVERSTIMES recalled Ajayi was apprehended by churchgoers during a Sunday service in Orozo, Abuja. He was found with a sack containing the severed head of his girlfriend.
The deceased’s sister, Patience Adaidu, has vehemently denied any romantic involvement between her sister and Ajayi, stating that their family had no prior knowledge of him.
The family is demanding a thorough and transparent investigation into the gruesome murder.
