In Kogi,DSS is Suffocating Us – Usman Okai Austin Cries out.

Kogi Born Political activist , Comrade Usman Okai Austin has this morning issued a strong statement concerning the recent use of Kogi security Architecture by the ruling class to subvert the will and opinion of inhabitants of Kogi state.
Reacting to the arrest and continued detention of Habib Omachile over a Facebook post, Okai said, the department of state security is an important tool in the unity of this country and as such, the agency must not be allowed to be used by anybody, wether a seating Governor, Senator and even the President to harass and intimidate citizens who dared speak truth to Powers.
The political activist while commending the DSS in safeguarding the Nation’s war against kidnappers and terrorists was quoted as saying “contrary views are part of democratic ethics and the people of Kogi must not be allowed to suffocate or forced to die in silence, especially now that the state is bequathed with a bastardised economy.

To worsen the State Government’s rampage on citizens who deemed necessary to draw the Government attention to striking issues confronting the state, Habib Omachile was arrested from his home Town, he was reportedly whisked from Anyigba at 2 O’clock Midnight and has since been taken to Lokoja by the DSS on the allegation that he was said to have orchestrated injurious falsehood via his Facebook post, stating that people were dying at an alarming rate due to fever.

DSS should tell us the position of the federal government on COVID-19, the president himself admitted that he has lost a close friend to Covid-19, the federal government also admitted that Senator Ajimobi and Senator Kashamu both died of COVID-19 just to mention a few. Why is the case in Kogi different that people are being punished for voicing the truth?
Now that the president said there is COVID-19 where did Habib Omachile who was whisked from his room around 2am went wrong in raising the alarm of people dying of malaria fever? A man who has lost over three relatives to malaria fever shoud have enough evidences to raise alarm. Okai continued.
Austin Okai who concluded in an aggressive fashion said, is DSS in kogi state not aware that just last week Kogi state commissioner of health, Dr Saka announced that the state is planning house to house COVID-19 test? or is the DSS not aware that Kogi state government is fumigating schools across the state inline with PTF and NCDC recommendations before the resumption of the schools? It’s time DSS should see us as a friend, when we raised alarm is for the interest of the state, the citizens, aiming at drawing government attention to a particular area neglect, we are citizens and we are not interested in bringing our own state down.
We can’t continue to live in intimidation, it’s time DSS should stand by the citizens and stop this harassment. Okai roared, called on DSS to see contrary view in the state as friends who want good of the state not being treated as an enemy of the state, he concluded.
