Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho has explained his decision to join Chelsea, citing the club’s playing philosophy and potential for personal growth as key factors in his transfer.
Speaking about his move to Stamford Bridge, Garnacho said: “When I spoke with the club and Maresca, it’s important also the style of play we have. He explained a lot to me in a video call with him.”
The 21-year-old added: “It’s a big chance to improve as a player in a team like Chelsea.”
Chelsea secured Garnacho’s signature for a reported £40 million fee from Manchester United, with the forward penning a seven-year contract with the Blues.
The Argentine international wasted no time making an impact, scoring his first goal for the club during Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to newly promoted Sunderland on Saturday.
Garnacho’s arrival forms part of Chelsea’s ongoing squad strengthening as they chase success across multiple competitions this season, including the Premier League and European football.
The former Manchester United academy graduate had been a regular feature for the Red Devils before his switch to West London, where manager Enzo Maresca appears to have convinced him of the project on offer.
