Prof. Mohammed Isa Kida has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Nasarawa State.
The Governing Council of the institution announced the appointment on Tuesday, with Prof. Kida set to assume office on February 11, 2026, for a single term of five years.
Mrs Lola Fibisola Akande, Chairman of the FULafia Governing Council, presented the appointment letter to Prof. Kida at the university campus.
The letter, dated October 29, 2025, expressed the council’s confidence in the new vice-chancellor’s ability to steer the institution forward.
“The council is confident that you will leverage your wealth of experience to advance the growth and development of the university,” the appointment letter stated.
Prof. Kida, an accomplished accountant, was formerly the Dean of the Faculty of Management Science at the university before his elevation to the top administrative position.
He will succeed Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, whose tenure expires in February 2026.
The appointment comes at a crucial time for the institution as it seeks to consolidate its academic achievements and expand its infrastructure.
FULafia, established in 2011, has grown to become one of the prominent tertiary institutions in the North-Central region of Nigeria.
