The Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that ongoing peace efforts in the state are beginning to yield tangible results, signalling a gradual return to stability after months of political tension.
Speaking in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara said that sustained dialogue, reconciliation initiatives and stakeholder engagement are helping to ease the strain that has gripped the state’s political landscape.
“Peace is gradually returning to Rivers State. Our continuous efforts at dialogue and understanding are paying off. We are committed to ensuring that every disagreement is resolved in the interest of our people,” the governor stated.
He commended traditional rulers, religious leaders and community stakeholders for supporting the government’s peacebuilding agenda, stressing that unity and cooperation remain essential for development.
Governor Fubara assured residents that his administration remains focused on delivering good governance, infrastructural renewal and economic opportunities, regardless of the recent political challenges.
“We will not be distracted. Our priority is the welfare of Rivers people. The time for conflict is over — it is now time to rebuild and move forward together,” he said.
Political analysts note that the governor’s remarks may signal a thaw in the long-standing rift between rival political camps in the state, which has dominated Rivers politics for months.
Observers have also praised the governor’s conciliatory tone, saying it could lay the foundation for sustained peace and renewed confidence in the state’s leadership.
With calm gradually returning to Port Harcourt and other key areas, hopes are rising that the state may finally be turning the corner towards lasting political stability and progress.
