The Federal Government has allocated N31.4 billion for the renovation of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja and various other sports facilities across the country. This funding, part of the 2025 Appropriation Bill, aims to upgrade critical sports venues and promote athletic excellence nationwide.
Breakdown of the Renovation Budget
Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja:** The main bowl of the stadium is set to receive a substantial portion of the budget, with N12.7 billion earmarked for its renovation. This investment is expected to modernize the stadium and improve its facilities to host international sporting events.
High-Performance Centre for Athletes: An additional N4 billion has been allocated for the completion of a high-performance centre within the stadium. This centre aims to provide state-of-the-art training facilities for athletes, enhancing their preparation and performance on the global stage.
-Sports Secretariat Construction: #The budget also includes N4.5 billion for the construction of a new sports secretariat at the stadium. This facility will serve as the administrative hub for managing sports activities and events.
Regional Sports Centres: To promote sports development across the nation, N4.4 billion has been designated for the construction and renovation of mini sports centres in the six geopolitical regions of Nigeria. These centres will provide local athletes with access to quality facilities and training opportunities.
Internet Connectivity: To ensure modern connectivity, N12 million has been allocated for internet bandwidth connectivity at the Abuja stadium. This will be achieved through the installation of optic fiber and LAN/WAN networks, supporting efficient communication and operations.
