The Head, Engineering and Emerging Technologies Team at the Strategy Implementation Task Office for Presidential Executive Order No.5 (SITOPEO-5) Engr Dr Patricks Oghuma has called on all stakeholders across government, academia and industry to collaborate in building a robust pipeline of female Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) talent in this digital era.
Speaking at the Women in Technology in Nigeria (WITIN) Girls’ STEM Exhibition “Innovate for Impact: STEM Solutions for a Sustainable Future” held during the week in Abuja, he stressed on the urgency of investing in girls’ education, mentoring and skills development to build a digitally inclusive and scientifically literate society. He pointed out that enhancing female participation in STEM is not just a women’s issue but a national development imperative.
He challenged long-standing stereotypes and called for a transformative shift in how society views and supports girls in technology, leadership, and innovation. Stressing that girls are no more
meant for the other room but in the upper room of innovation, leadership and transformation, Dr. Oghuma underscored the importance of intentional investment in girls’ education, digital literacy and leadership development. He urged stakeholders to dismantle barriers, build inclusive platforms and foster cultures that celebrate female achievement.
The address with a heartfelt tribute to the summit organizers and a message of hope to every girl aligns with the core mission to promote Nigerian content in science, engineering, and technology and reinforces the commitment of SITOPEO-5 to inclusive innovation and sustainable development.
