Zaria, Nigeria – In a moment of cultural and historical significance, the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Bamalli, conferred the prestigious Sardauna Zazzau title on former Vice-President, Namadi Sambo, in a ceremony held on Saturday at his Palace in Zaria.
Addressing the gathering, the Emir disclosed that the title was first conferred on Sambo in 2014 by the late Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, but that the formal coronation could not take place until now due to certain delays.
“This title is conferred to you today, not only as a symbol of your longstanding connection with the Zazzau Emirate, but also in recognition of your exemplary leadership, unwavering dedication to national development, and your ongoing commitment to humanitarian causes,” the Emir stated.
The ceremony attracted prominent figures from all walks of life, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, as well as serving and former Governors, religious leaders, traditional chiefs, top government officials, and several political figures.
In his address, Bamalli expressed hope that Sambo’s appointment as the Sardauna would further promote peace, unity, and progress both within the Emirate and beyond its borders.
“We trust that you will continue to serve as a bridge between the Zazzau Emirate and the broad network of your relationships, helping to build even stronger bonds of friendship, unity, and peace,” Bamalli added.
