Celebrity barman and businessman Okechukwu Pascal, popularly known as Cubana ChiefPriest, has stirred social media reactions after referring to singer Davido as the “father of Afrobeats” while appearing to throw shade at Burna Boy.
Cubana ChiefPriest made the statement following his appearance on stage during Davido’s concert at the Uyo Stadium, Akwa Ibom State, as part of the artiste’s ongoing tour.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, the nightlife entrepreneur expressed gratitude to Davido for giving him the platform to perform before a massive crowd, while praising his influence on the Afrobeats movement.
He wrote:
“Chief Priest Don Do Stadium. Dem Sabi My Gbedu Well Well For Uyo. From Today Onwards, Akwa Ibom Has My Fat Heart. @davido Without You, Afrobeats Is A Bastard. 001 For A Reason, The Papa Of Afrobeats.”
The post immediately drew comments from fans, including one who jokingly suggested that Burna Boy should “leave ChiefPriest alone.” Responding to the remark, Cubana ChiefPriest replied:
“The bingo go cry.”
The exchange has been interpreted by many as a jab directed at Burna Boy, reigniting their ongoing social media feud.
Observers recall that both celebrities have been at odds following ChiefPriest’s public support for Helen, an alleged former partner of Burna Boy, a situation that previously sparked heated exchanges online.
Meanwhile, Burna Boy recently opened up about the origin of his stage name during a conversation with tennis legend Roger Federer. The Grammy-winning artiste explained that “Burna Boy” was inspired by his childhood love for comic books and superheroes.
According to him, he used to create his own characters and envisioned himself as a superhero with powers linked to fire a concept that later shaped his stage identity.
Burna Boy said,
“I’ve always been fascinated by superheroes. As a child, I used to draw them and imagine their powers. That’s how the name Burna Boy came to life.”
