The National Council of State has endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s nomination of Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
This approval was announced on Thursday in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Assistant to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to the statement, President Tinubu presented Professor Amupitan to the Council to fill the vacancy created by the exit of Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who served as INEC Chairman from 2015 until October 2025.
