Grammy Award-winning Nigerian superstar Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has publicly shared his journey of religious transformation, revealing that he has converted from Christianity to Islam.

In a candid interview with American streamer PlaqueBoyMax, Burna Boy opened up about his spiritual quest for truth, which has often left him grappling with confusion but also a profound sense of connection.

The artist explained that his transition stemmed from a deep desire to understand the meaning of existence and the nature of creation. “I grew up as a Christian, but then I converted to Islam and all types. It’s like I have studied it all. I am still out here trying to find what is really going on,” he admitted.

Burna Boy also reflected on the complexity of religion in general, stating, “Religion is a controlled mechanism. In all my research, there is always one scientific fact that goes against every book. Everything comes from the workshop of the sun.”

He further expressed his spirituality: “The more I researched, the more confused I got. All I know is that the truth is there is something up there protecting me. That I am in tune with. That’s why when I pray, I feel like I’m being heard.”

The singer described his belief in a higher power, saying, “I am very spiritual. I believe we are creations. If we are creations, there must be a creator. Everyone is coming up with versions that are confusing me. That is what your parents believe in. That is what you are born into.”

Concluding, Burna Boy emphasized the personal nature of his spiritual journey: “All I know is that the truth is there is something up there protecting me. That I am in tune with. That is why when I pray, I feel like I am being heard.”
