Bayern Munich has officially made a loan bid for Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, as the summer transfer window nears its deadline, according to reports from The Athletic. The move is part of the German club’s strategy to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.
Having faced a series of setbacks in their search for a forward, Bayern has now turned their attention to Lookman, who currently plays for Atalanta in Italy. The German giants had previously pursued other forwards, including Nick Woltemade, who eventually joined Newcastle United, and Senegal’s Nicolas Jackson, whose transfer collapsed despite passing a medical in Germany. With these deals falling through, Bayern’s interest in Lookman is now seen as a key move to reinforce their attacking depth, especially with Harry Kane in need of support upfront.
Lookman has reportedly expressed his desire to leave Atalanta, and Bayern’s offer includes a loan agreement with a substantial fee, along with an option to purchase the player after the loan period ends. If the deal goes through, it will mark a return to the Bundesliga for the former RB Leipzig winger, who previously played in Germany before his move to Italy.
