The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has accused former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of sponsoring political thugs responsible for recent unrest in the region.
This accusation emerged following violent incidents in Birnin Kebbi during Malami’s visit.
Yahaya Sarki, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Nasir Idris, stated on Tuesday that “hoodlums loyal to the ADC attacked our party secretariat, vandalised billboards of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Idris, and fired gunshots that left residents fearing for their safety.”
The APC described the attack as an attempt to erode Kebbi’s reputation for peaceful politics, calling on security agencies to swiftly investigate and bring those responsible to justice. Eyewitness accounts described the assailants as well-armed, with some reportedly brought in from neighbouring states.
