Lauds His Courage On Production Of ‘AMOBONI’

The Ag Director General, National Broadcasting Commission NBC, Professor Armstrong Aduku Augustine Idachaba was over the weekend honored with an award of excellence for his contributions to the developement of theatre arts and communication in Nigeria.

The award was confered on the Director General by his former employer and students of Kogi state College of Education KSCOE Ankpa in Kogi state.

The Ag Director General was a former lecturer in the department of theatre arts of the Institution untill 1992, before he joinined the services of Nigeria Broadcasting Commission NBC.

Professor Armstrong Idachaba was honoured after the book was reviewed and acted on a script written by him ‘AMOBONI’ 26 years ago by students of the theatre arts of the College.

‘AMOBONI’ took a prominent stage in the late 90’s both in the National and International theatrics,that revealed the pious roles of the late legend Attah Igala, HRH Ameh Oboni.

The book revealed alot of potentials in Igala tradition as well as an in-depth knowledge on the reign of the most popular Attah of Igala, HRH Ameh Oboni laced with alot traditional wizardry.

Professor Idachaba,a writter,lecturer,movie producer was the first Igala movie producer that had gone on Nollywood standard in the current dispensation.

His flare for acting and producing is unrivalled and many occasions directed scripts in the departments of theatre and performance arts in both Nigeria Universities and beyond the shores of Nigeria.

The play was directed by his former student, Ali Ojodale and now a lecturer at the department of theatre arts of the Kogi State College of Education Ankpa in Kogi State.

At the event to witness the occassion was a Nollywood actor and producer,Thompson Makolo Junior TMJ who commended the erudite scholar and theatre magnet for a job well done,after he identified some talents from the performed script.

According to the Director of the script,Ali Ojodale, says the review and act was to give honour to whom honour is due,saying Professor Armstrong Idachaba’s legacies will be a lasting one.
