Zulum offers scholarships for Dikwa health workers, teachers

Borno state governor, Babagana Umara Zulum has offered scholarship to health workers and teachers in Dikwa local government area to study courses in medicine, sciences and technology in various tertiary institutions within and outside Nigeria.

The governor made the offer while on inspection tour of healthcare facilities and educational institutions in township of Dikwa on Friday.

Zulum’s scholarships offer is to cover courses in medicine, pharmacy, nursing and midwifery for those working in health facilities, while various teachers with prerequisite training in education are to study sciences, english and mathematics, including highly professional courses that are obtained only outside the country.

Governor Zulum explained that the offer was to boost human resources that could be beneficial to the community.

Zulum also announced teachers/LGA staffs verification complain desk, which is meant to entertain all issues of errors in the verification process earlier completed and report submitted to the Governor.

He made this known while engaging staff of Shehu Sanda Kura Primary School in Dikwa local government area.

Part of the Governor’s activities on Friday in Dikwa was an inspection of proposed Dikwa earthdam, which will open up irrigation agricultural activities for the vulnerable residents whose livelihoods have been destroyed by the decade long insurgency.

On his visit at Dikwa general hospital, Zulum has ordered procurement of the necessary essential medicines and complete rehabilitation of the hospital.
