Greetings in the name of the struggle ✊✊.
Often times I used to wonder why as a nation we are always opportune but can’t use the opportunity gainfully and at the end of the day, those who misused the opportunities will still come back and feel comfortable without them been question or berate.
For example, we have had Ministers, Senators, Commissioners and there likes in the past time but they have less or nothing to show as devidence of their appointments or election in Goemai Land. They have no score cards, no legacies, no projects and have nothing to write home about.
The present Governor of Plateau State was one time a Member Plateau State House of Assembly representing Shendam Constituency for 8yrs and he was the Speaker of the House for 7yrs, what was his score cards and what has his hometown benefitted from him from that office he occupied?
I have gone round some villages in Shendam LGA and I have seen Constituency’s projects such as renovation and building of class rooms, hospitals, sinking of boreholes and the rest by some past House Members of Shendam Constituency but I haven’t seen any with inscription that it was constructed by our sitting Governor who was a member for two terms.
I saw projects done by Hon. Joe Bukar, Rt. Hon. Johnbull Shekarau and Hon. Sir Henry Yunkwap when they were in office as members Shendam Constituency but I haven’t seen any that was done by Gov Simon Bako Lalong, yet that seems not to be a problem and we the Goemai still supported him for Governorship.
As if that was not enough, Gov Simon Bako Lalong when to little Rayfield Jos in 2015 as a child of necessity following the wrong political calculation his predecessor cumulated, we thought Lalong would think beyond his normal way of thinking and stem up his performance, but alas he seems not to change and remain very amble that we use to know him with.
As if that was not enough, in 2019 our same Goemai folks still came and begged us that we should support him for the second tenure, that he was completing projects he inherited in the first tenu(4yrs completing projects) that was why we couldn’t see any developments or projects in our region yet.
Like those who can’t decide on their own, we decided to be peremptory and do what they wanted and we went out and supported him despite his incompetency.
I said “he’s incompetent” because his performance in the previous years has proved it.
As if he would not win the race in 2019 but we went out to begged other Plateau citizens to support him all because we thought if he comes back for the second term, he will rewrite the story but alas, the man seems to be Perfidious, Obdurate, Obfuscate and remiss.
It’s barely two years now in the second tenure, we haven’t seen anything yet from our brother and father Simon Bako Lalong and his beneficiaries.
✍️NOW MY POINT OF CONTENTION…
Why did Lalong feels not worried or disturbed despite him been punitive to the Goemai Nation?
Is Lalong truly a Goemai scion?
Should we blame him or blame ourselves? Since we have noticed he’s incompetency but choice to be adamant.
If Lalong will leave office today, do we have anything to show for?
Don’t we have anything to do about it?
Should any Goemai person just come and do what he wants and go without the Goemai Nation calling him or her to order?
The answer to the above questions bounce back to my caption and that’s where I want us to talk about.
There are two statements that we the Goemai have cling to and it’s eating us up yet we seems not to understand.
We are seeing failure and incompetency vividly but we prefer to say ” nmak ah nmak” and allow an incompetent person instead of going for competency and credibility.
What he did was wrong, let scold him so that he can correct it but the Goemai man will say “Ah laa men” and prefer the defaulter to go unpunished and not been corrected.
He has been unpatriotic, call his attention home and berate him, they will say “ah laa men”, and that’s all.
We are seeing opportunity been wasted and another about to be wasted yet people don’t want us to talk because “nmak ah nmak” or “ah laa men”.
We’ve seen people been so whammy and stunted, yet we should not reprove them because “ah laa men”.
Those statements are truly weighing us down, making us quietude, unproductive politically, opportunity abusers,stoic and stagnant.
✍️CONCLUSION
Dear fellow Compatriots, we’ve to learn to be honest and realistic, calling a spade a spade and been frank so that we can have the best of every opportunity we have.
We most learn to call people to order and instill in them the spirit of sportmanship when they are in positions less we’ll always have nothing to benefit.
We most erase that spirit of “nmak ah nmak” and that of “ah laa men” or else we’ll only be seeing others enjoying the devidence of Democratic but we’ll not enjoy it despite us occupying so many offices.
Yes ‘nmak ah nmak’ but what if ‘nmak’ didn’t show to the world that he or she is truly ‘nmak’? Should you continue saying’nmak ah nmak’?
Yes “ah laa men” but let him prove to us that he’s truly ‘laa men’.
They’re benefitting from the Government by the merits of been Goemai, let the Goemai Nation also benefits from them.
The most painful thing is that when you talk like this, some halfwits will be defending them because they are their pay Masters.
Despite these, some Goemai fellows don’t see fault in it, Haba jama’a!!!
I am trying so that I should not speak recrimineously, but honestly it’s very clear that some people are showing their mediocrity when they support what is happening today in Goemai Nation despite the number of Goemai people we have in today’s Government.
Goemai let’s upon our eye, we may not have this opportunity again.
