You Cannot Defend Tinubu Without Disgracing Yourself,’ Dele Farotimi Hits at BAT Supporters

by

Dele Farotimi, a legal practitioner, author, and political activist, has taken to Twitter to criticize the supporters of Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT), the former governor of Lagos State and a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a tweet posted on Saturday, February 3, 2024, Farotimi said that defending Tinubu is an exercise in “self-denudement”, meaning that one cannot defend him without disgracing oneself.

Defending BAT is an exercise in self denudement, you cannot defend him without disgracing yourself. To cloak the man, you have to metaphorically remove your own garment of honor, and the more vociferous your defense of the man, the more you prove yourself to be dishonorable,” he wrote.

Farotimi, who is a member of the Citizens’ Rally against Oppression (RAMINBA), has been a vocal critic of the Nigerian system and the 1999 Constitution. He also was one of the spokespersons for the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, in the 2023 presidential election.
