The party also raised the alarm over the activities of the state police commissioner, Hakeem Busari, and the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Prof James Apam.
The party alleged that trained ad-hoc staff for the election were being substituted for preferred All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.
The PDP said it had lost confidence in the commissioner of police and the REC in the state, demanding their immediate transfer.
A statement by the chairman of the PDP in Lokoja local government area, Idris Abubakar, also accused the REC of giving out the unclaimed Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) of the local government area to the ruling APC, describing his actions as attempts to rig the elections as witnessed during the last bye-election held to fill the vacant stool for Lokoja/Kogi house of representatives in August last year.The PDP chairman called on the agents in all the polling units of Lokoja not only to be vigilante of persons that would present the unclaimed PVC given to the unknown persons but reject such PVC, raise alarm and report to security agencies.
The PDP chairman alleged that the ad-hoc staff replaced by the APC members had been directed to accept such PVC not owned by the original owners and presented at polling units, saying such move was unacceptable.
The PDP equally frowned at the besieging by fake police and soldiers the Lokoja residence of former governor Ibrahim Idris last Friday when leaders of the PDP were holding a meeting on the eve of the botched elections.
The party said: “We are worried by the fact that the fake police and soldiers were escorted out of the government house by conventional policemen, not too far from the residence of Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, an action the party frowns at.
“More worrisome is the fact that these same hoodlums in fake security uniforms mounted roadblocks in front of Alh Ibrahim Idris and Senator Tunde Ogbeha’s residence, harassing motorists and innocent citizens, opened fire at the vehicle of Senator Dino Melaye, yet the Commissioner of Police has not deemed it fit to condemn in strong terms the state government action and condemn the unleashing of fake security personnel on the citizens, with the aim of instilling fear, in the minds of Lokoja residents.”
The PDP also notes further that having met with the REC in his office, to complain about making Lokoja the collation centre for Kogi West Senatorial District a complaint the REC insisted has to be maintained.
“We, however, wish to draw the attention of the REC and the whole world to the Friday ruling by a Lokoja Federal High Court ruling asking that the collation centre for Kogi West Senatorial District be Kabba.
“We use this medium to therefore emphasis on the ruling of D.U Okorowa, that until an amendment by the National Assembly, Kabba remains the collation centre for Kogi West and any attempt to do otherwise by the REC amounts to contempt, and has serious legal consequences.”
But the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor, Muhammed Onogwu, said the allegations were frivolous and baseless as the governor had never taken up the duty of security agencies.
He said: “It is obvious the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost hope of any chances in the next elections as they are devastated and demoralised by the people’s acceptance of the APC in Kogi State.
“APC under the leadership of Alhaji Yahaya Bello in Kogi State has rooted itself across the state to deliver the votes for all its candidates in the forthcoming elections.
“The PDP remains a shadow of itself and think the ruling party will sit down and write election results the way they did in their 16 years in office.”
