The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims that he is distracted by the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, involving him and Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Wike asserted that his focus on his duties as FCT Minister is evident in the numerous projects underway in the nation’s capital.
Speaking during a visit to significant projects slated for commissioning by President Bola Tinubu from May 27, Wike said, “I am not distracted as FCT Minister. If I were distracted, you wouldn’t see all these projects in FCT.” He emphasized that the commissioning of projects will span nine days, demonstrating his commitment to his responsibilities.
This statement comes amidst allegations that Wike’s attention is divided due to the political tensions in Rivers State. However, Wike’s assertion and the progress on FCT projects suggest otherwise. The political crisis in Rivers State continues, with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) maintaining its stance on the defection of former lawmakers to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
