During an interview with AIT News, Smart Adeyemi, the APC Kogi governorship aspirant, tackled Gov. Yahaya Bello for picking and campaigning for Ahmed Ododo, the APC Kogi governorship candidate. Smart Adeyemi stated that why would he (Bello) pick somebody from his family to succeed him and then want ppeaceand stability to reign in the country?
Smart Adeyemi stated that no one from Kogi West has had the opportunity to become the governor of the state in the last 32 years. He added that there should be room for inclusivity in governance to promote peace and unity in the state. He, however, concluded that the governor should have chosen somebody from other parts of the state instead of focusing on someone who comes from his side.
According to him, “I wouldn’t know whether that could be effective because the governor wanted his cousin of the same parent. Their houses are just a five-minute drive away, they vote in the same polling unit, and they are of the same tribe. Why didn’t he pick somebody from Ogori or pick somebody from Ihima or Dekina? Why will you pick somebody from your family to come and be the flag bearer, and you want us to say there’s peace and stability in Nigeria? Who is second-class to whom? Who is a friend to the other person? For 32 years, my people have not been governors. ”
