The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Baba Tela, has stated that the staff member of the World Health Organisation in Bauchi who was confirmed positive for COVID-19 was infected in a Kano mosque.
He stated this at a press conference on Monday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Bauchi.
“Our information is that he visited the mosque and was in contact with that person that was infected in Kano and that is where he might have likely have got his infection from.
And unfortunately, when he came into Bauchi, he was also at one or two mosques where he prayed and he was in touch with family and quite a number of people.
“Other persons have been traced and they are being monitored and their samples are going to be taken and we’ll decide whether to quarantine or let them go, depending upon what comes out from their tests,” he said.
He lamented that people of the state have refused to come to terms with the existence of the pandemic in the state, saying “many people don’t believe it is real.”
